Friending Post

My LJ has gone a bit odd and it's a bit quiet. I know a couple of you are finding the same thing, so I thought I might attempt to make a public post and a sort of friending frenzy (this may or may not work especially as I am posting this on a Monday morning). So yeah, you know the drill. If you want friends feel free to make a comment telling us all about yourself and have a look through to see if there is anyone you think you might like to be friends with.

I'm a 32, female and live in Kent with my partner (we are engaged - am avoiding using the word fiance!) We have 2 rescue greyhounds who are ex-racers and occasionally foster lurchers for a charity we work with.

I'm a youth worker a job that I love but am still inclinded to occasionally whine about.

I have been on LJ for nearly 11 years now and my journal has gone through various phases: - a way to meet people, a place to write stories, an online diary, a place to debate, a detailed description of what sandwich I ate for lunch(in many way the most interesting phase). Mostly now it seems to be a weekly-ish update with a few photos thrown in for good measure. It could all change in future I guess.

I hit "post" and then realised that was a shit intro and says virtually nothing about me. I was not aiming for enigmatic and mysterious. I don't like talking about 50 Shades of Grey. I drink my coffee black. Patti Smith is my jam. Er. I am the assistant editor of a music mag/blog. Last night my boyfriend and I couldn't sleep because we're pretty sure we have a mouse in the bedsit we live in and we could here him niffing about the bin. I have named him Fairway Frank. I'm Laura, known as Ripley, 29 and living in Cambridge with partner Tom (Inq) of seven+ years and my two cats, Gambit and Glyph. I'm not the most frequent updater but I read my flist often and I think I'm OK about commenting :)

Other stuff about me: my LJ is mainly about stuff that sticks out about my day-to-day life. It isn't always riveting but it's mine. I'm a grad student, introvert and avid reader, into papercrafting, mail art and swapping, crochet, knitting, roleplaying games and LARP, video games, Buddhism, and reading whatever I can find all over the internet. I have slightly off taste in music - favourites include James, Vangelis, Profondo Rosso, Savage, Allister, Idlewild, Green Day, A Fine Frenzy, Roxette, The Beautiful South and The Housemartens, and all sorts of other artists of varying genres - I recently got into Vocaloid music and Florence + the Machine.

I have ME and some mental health/spectrum issues going on, so I'm not always the most shiny happy person out there, but I think and hope that under a slightly crotchety exterior I'm nice enough.

I'm looking for new friends that don't mind getting to know a massive geek who's interested in almost anything people have to say. Interests in common are a bonus but not necessary and I look forward to meeting you :)

Hi, I'm Elinor I'm 33 - nearly 34. I moved up to the North West to live with my boyfriend last year. We have bought our first house together. And I can't wait to get in there and start making it our own.

Heya, I'm Ingrid, 25 and about to make the leap from Oxford to Newcastle to start a Masters in Museum/Art Gallery Studies having hit a bit of a brick wall with trying to find interesting work. My current interests are reading, zines, letter writing, cycling, trying to do Couch to 5k, music and music festivals. I'm vegan, so I talk about that sometimes, post photos now and then, I'm in a long distance relationship with a guy from Manchester so frequently travel about, and in general I talk about feelings whether they be good or bad. :)

Hi! I am Marta, 30, italian. I am on LJ since 2007, but haven't updated as much in the past years. I am now back for good to keep a regular account of my days. I am a part-time office worker. I am a part-time university student. I am working through my third uni degree, this time in kingergarten education. I aim to get a master in special needs education also. I already am a social worker, but it seems to be an unlucky profession in my country, so I am just trying my luck with education.
I am in a long-term relationship with my high school sweetheart and we'll hopefully get married next year. Don't you worry, if you add me you won't be bothered with endless wedding organizing lists and ramblings: I am not one for partying and I am not looking forward to being at the centre of everyone's attention.
