Friending Post
Jul. 23rd, 2012 11:00 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
My LJ has gone a bit odd and it's a bit quiet. I know a couple of you are finding the same thing, so I thought I might attempt to make a public post and a sort of friending frenzy (this may or may not work especially as I am posting this on a Monday morning). So yeah, you know the drill. If you want friends feel free to make a comment telling us all about yourself and have a look through to see if there is anyone you think you might like to be friends with.
Can I ask that you make a post on your LJ and link to this (if you are so inclined)
I'll start
My LJ friends describe me as follows
resuscitation
A lovely person with a good sense of humour and great personality. Her journal is easy to read and mcmurphy79 is also a regular commenter. Definately someone to add if you get the chance.

Tina writes with unflinching honesty about all aspects of her life. She is open, non-judgmental and supportive; and someone you won't regret adding to your friends list!
stpdsxyflndrs:
mcmurphy79 is ardently kind and fervently passionate about everything lucky enough to be in the scope of her life. She is fun, raw, honest, and open; she is beautiful without realizing the true extent of her radiance. Her posts make me laugh, cry, think, and reflect, and her comments are always comforting and understanding. I feel quite honored to know her, and if you add her, you will too!

My friends list wouldn't be the same without mcmurphy79. Funny, genuine and honest, she's someone I regard as a true friend
I'm a 32, female and live in Kent with my partner (we are engaged - am avoiding using the word fiance!) We have 2 rescue greyhounds who are ex-racers and occasionally foster lurchers for a charity we work with.
I'm a youth worker a job that I love but am still inclinded to occasionally whine about.
Current obsessions - Dogs, Ian McKellen, Derren Brown, Morrissey, The Smiths, Manic Street Preachers,

Date: 2012-07-23 10:49 am (UTC)Middle aged (55) married female historian (also a qualified special needs teacher but no longer teaching) of working class origin and complicated ancestry. I travel a lot and am a photography nut, so post a lot of pics. Most people think I'm sane(-ish)
I keep my blog f-locked due to certain things in my personal history that some strange people might not approve of, but if you're broad minded and free of the usual prejudices, -phobias and -isms, you might just like what you see if you ask to come on board :o)

Date: 2012-07-23 11:06 am (UTC)I have a boyfriend, Rob, who does marketing for the same energy supplier. We're currently long distance, he's about 100 miles away. He's the woman of our relationship bless him! He's lovely and the sweetest man I've ever dated, but I'm terrible with relationships, not very romantic, and overanalyse everything (via my journal)!
Sadly I also have a massive crush on my bad-boy boss (I should write that it's never going to happen, nor would I actually want it to), and I write about this quite a lot. Trying to get my head around ignoring my stupid brain and doing what's best for me and also for Rob.
Other things I like are: salsa dancing, going to the cinema, I've just bought a new flat and I'm going to be working on making that my own, girly gossiping, drinking/going out on a Friday (I promise all my entires don't start with "oooo I was soooo wasted"), I'm a runner and am currently training for a 10k, I do talk about work a bit and sometimes I get to travel round the country to different power stations.
I'm pretty practical but think my journal probably gets my hormonal woman side, so I probably would fit with either side. I always read my flist and comment quite a lot (I usually have something to say!). I think my journal has been a bit difficult to comment on at the moment, especially if you don't know me, but I appreciate people reading, and like reading people's journals in return. I don't mind people telling me I'm an idiot so would welcome brutally honest friends!

Date: 2012-07-23 01:41 pm (UTC)Some of my interests are literature (fantasy, chick-litt, every day modern stories.. I'm an avid reader and read a little bit of everything), photography, movies (I watch a huge variety of genres and like anything from romantic movies to horror movies), cooking, traveling, shopping, taking daytrips, history, music (mainly indie and singer/songwriters), going to gigs (even if I don't do it as often), writing letters, watching tv (I follow a lot of shows, or try to.. Greys anatomy, Gossip girl, Vampire diaries, Desperate housewives, House, True blood, Supernatural are amongst the ones I watch these days and an old favorite of mine is Buffy the vampire slayer.) I collect Blythe dolls and post about them once in a while in my journal, but more than anything my journal is like a diary and a way to keep up with penpals and online friends about my daily life.
I'm looking for people who update somewhat regularly and who is genuinely interested in getting to know me & will comment to entries once and a while. It'd be nice if we have some things in common, but you don't have to like everything I do. I keep my journal friends locked so do give me a shout if you feel like we'd get along and I'll add you back.

Date: 2012-07-23 04:05 pm (UTC)Hello, I'm Steph, I live in Yorkshire with my partner and cat in a house we bought about 6 months ago.
I've been on LJ for about 11 years now and I post about the general things that happen in my life, and I post a lot of pics.
I'm self employed mainly but atm I'm doing some extra part time work for a local company that makes sushi. I love food, and I'm just starting to learn about baking cakes.
I'll add you and hope you add me back?

Date: 2012-07-23 05:06 pm (UTC)Well, my name is Sarah and I turned 36 today. Being closer to 40 than 30 isn't a particularly nice feeling but I am sure that I will get used to it.
I live in the north-west (near Manchester) and I will be moving in with my fella in the next couple of weeks. Well, as soon as I have packed all of my stuff up. We have three cats and we fuss over our furbabies far too much. As cats go, ours are fabulous in every way possible.
I have been a primary school teacher for the past twelve years. I love my job but it can annoy me at times. I try not to whinge about it too much.
I love to cross stitch and have just joined a crochet club. We are all the same age and meet in local pub and spend a huge chunk of the time talking about men. We are trying to increase our numbers and are planning several yarnbombing projects in our local town to make it more prettier. If the Knitting Nora's can do it and avoid getting arrested, then so can we!
I also like going to the theatre and gigs. I love bands such as The Horrors, The Hives and the wonderus X Ray Spex.
My other hobbies include mystery shopping and market research. Now, I know that this isn't exactly a rock n roll hobby and does cause the odd eyebrow to rise when I mention it but I love free stuff and shopping vouchers. OMG shopping for free. Who can complain about that?!

Date: 2012-07-23 08:16 pm (UTC)So, I'm Melissa, 29. A Southern California/L.A. girl through and through. I'm a publicist for various restaurants and also am a music journalist. I currently write for PopMatters, PhantEye and BandCrab.
Music is my life, so if you're into Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Green Day, the Beatles, Belle & Sebastian, riot grrl bands, Fiona Apple and similar artists, we're going to get along just fine!
I also dig: Parks & Recreation, quirky indie films, thrift store shopping, being sober, going to the beach, traveling, collecting postcards and playing board games.

that it's not ours but we still feed him and take care of him, was studying Visual Arts last year but dropped out because of personal issues and I was supposed to start with Software Development this year but I still haven't because of reasons beyond my powers.I like a variety of tv shows, that include BBC Sherlock, Supernatural, Doctor Who, Misfits, Community, and others~, music (obsessed with Florence and Metric at the moment), cartoons, books (although I'm a reaaally lazy reader) photography and films, especially those with Christian Bale or Michael Fassbender in them.
I also rant a lot and have a terrible grammar so I apologize in advance for that.
